Mascara Switch up

Hi guys. Sorry it has been awhile. I got caught up with a new part-time job and been neglecting my duties here in the blogging word. 🙂

Ever since I graduated with my masters in May I have been looking for a part-time summer gig where I can work during the summer and transfer stores when I move to NY, so i’ll still have some money coming while I look for a full-time job. So this past month has been super rough, with basically having little money to spend on any life “extras”. Sometimes going to the grocery store and buying some new beauty product is my splurge and can cure my “I really want to shop” urges! haha.

I’ve tried bunches of mascaras from different brand because well a sample comes in just about every “free gift” set you might get when purchasing so much product from a brand. None seem to do it for me like mascara from Maybelline. If there is one drug store product that I always buy and has worked for me is Maybelline New York Mascara. I’ve used the Colossal Volume Express (yellow tube) for a really long time. At least a few years. I love love love this product. I have long lashes naturally but this product really makes them stand out and full. During my recent trip to the grocery store for some reason I had an urge to try a new one. I bought the Mega Plush Volume mascara (teal tube). I think the difference is that Mega Plush is more gel-ly than the yellow. It works ok, but to me my lashes look better when I use Colossal Volume. It’s way more dramatic and give your eyes that extra “oomph” look. The Mega Plush just doesn’t seem like it has a good of hold and volume as the other.

When it is time to purchase a new tube, I’m going to go back to the Colossal Volume Express. And in the future I need to remind myself when I think I want to try a new mascara I need tell myself, why change products when what you currently use is working great!

Supergoop! CC Cream: Product Review

Another product review from my May Birchbox!

This one is for the CC Cream from Supergoop! I received it in the light-medium shade and it has SPF 35 sunscreen in it too! Face products with a SPF higher than 15 I tend to shy away from because they feel thick and greasy on my face. It says to apply with your fingers so when I squirted it out on my fingers I was taken back by the thickness (hence-the word goop in the brand name should have been a giveaway). It was also a little darker and thought no way was I was going to be able to blend this out to match my fair skin tone. To my surprise it blended really well and didn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin. It really adjusted to my skin. I put it on when I went to the pool since it had such a high SPF in it.

Overall I was really happy with the product. I think I’m going to try using it daily in my casual makeup routine. I’ve been using BB cream for almost a year and I find that the BB cream I use from Dr. Jart is better to use in the winter since it has a lot of moisture in it and might be too much for the summer. This CC cream though I think will be perfect for the summer! Won’t sweat off and will give me some sun protection, which is something everyone should be wearing especially during the summer!
